Recently, the decision was made by the National Environment Management Association (NEMA) to ban plastic bags in Kenya. If someone is found to be using plastic bags, they will receive a hefty fine. All of the women in the program are happy about the decision and have sent pictures of people carrying new reusable bags or no bags at all. The women were coincidentally gifted reusable bags a few months ago when Mia MacDonald went for a visit. Many of the women are now starting their new semester and we wish them luck with their studies.
