International Women’s Day 2019

March 8th is International Women’s Day. We recognize the valuable work that women do and the importance of education for young women. We work with some incredible young women through our East African Young Women’s Initiative.

Many of the women are close to finishing up their time in the program. Joy has finished her studies and will graduate in a few months. She is employed at the Rift Water Service Board. Sabina is in her fourth year at university. She worked at the Indigenous Information Network and hopes to have her own organization to help women and girls with education and rights. Elizabeth is studying environmental studies and slide wants to advocate for women and empower rural women economically. Hellen is a recent graduate and is now employed by a Chinese company as a community liaison. She’s looking to pursue more environmental studies in the future.
